Keisuke Shiro / oshiroscope

is a technologic researcher / designer / artist based in Tokyo. Currently, I'm doctoral student in the University of Tokyo, Rekimoto Lab. My research covers wide area of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) field. From a customizable keyboard system to a synthetic approach for sports climbing or a novel AR display.

Habit

My hometown is engineering, but now I kinda like working across disciplines such as art and design. This animation illustrates me rolling in the cycle of science, engineering, design and art.

InterPoser

HCI / Sport Climbing / Machine Learning

Climbing is a complicated acitivity for beginners. InterPoser is a training system for climbers that visualizes intermediate motion between a beginner and an expert. It generates realistic images of the beginner climbing in smarter way with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).

TagScope

HCI / Display / Rolling-shutter Effect

A low-cost photogenic display whose image only appears on a camera. It controls lighting bars at high speed and synchronizes with the frame rate of the camera. By the rolling-shutter effect, only cameras can capture the image on this display.

OmniGaze

HCI / Telecommunication / Telepresence

In communication, gaze has a variety of important functions. OmniGaze is a gaze-oriented telecommunication system with an omnidirectonal camera surrounded by a spherical LED display that enables eye-like expression.

Lunavity

HCI / Human Augmentation / Drone

Lunavity is a system that augment the human capability of jumping. A backpack multi-rotor enables us to leap higher and further.

owlo

Speculative Design / Co-surveillance / AI

SNS is not designed to stop our curiousity. owlo is a fictional product that speculates a (un)comfortable society where everyone is walking with a drive recorder. Is the future really convenient?

One-time Jukebox

Media Art / Music

We spend more and more time listening music on Spotify. What if the media cannot replay the music again? This is an unreplayable jukebox that sharpens a pencil-shaped musical data. This music cannot be replayed again forever.

phonvert

Design / Sustainable IoT

Smartphone is a sophisticated device at the forefront of modern manufacturing technology. However, a lot of smartphones are retired every year. phonvert is a new concept of converting retired smartphones into IoT devices. The project leader Tomo is now building a community to explore the alternative usage of smartphones.

Trickey

Product Design / Gadget / Keyboard

I thought computer keyboards have too many keys for specific purposes such as editing and gaming. So I developed Trickey, a new building blocks style keyboard. This was my first independent project. Everything started from here.
